Ensuring Safety and Support: KRA Visionary's Commitment to Addressing Fire Safety Defects in Apartments and Duplexes

As the housing landscape evolves, ensuring residents' safety and well-being remains paramount. The recent announcement by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage regarding the Interim Remediation Scheme for Fire Safety Defects in apartments and duplexes constructed between 1991 and 2013 marks a crucial step forward in addressing these pressing concerns.

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O'Brien, unveiled the Interim Remediation Scheme to address emergency fire safety defect works. This scheme is designed to ensure the immediate implementation of interim measures, guaranteeing an acceptable level of fire safety in buildings. Here at KRA Visionary, we recognise the urgency of such measures and pledge our expertise and experience to support Owners' Management Companies (OMCs) in their applications and throughout the process.

As a testament to our commitment to quality and safety, KRA Visionary Project Partners team adheres rigorously to the Code of Practice for the Remediation of Fire Safety Defects, providing assurance and credibility to stakeholders. We understand the significance of certifications based on these standards and their implications for various stakeholders, including OMCs, homeowners, insurance bodies and financial institutions.

The government's initiative acknowledges the scale and potential cost associated with rectifying these issues. Statistics indicate that between 50% and 80% of apartments and duplexes constructed within the specified period may be affected by fire safety, structural safety, or water ingress defects. The projected cost of remediation underscores the enormity of the task ahead.

Lending our expertise, experience, and unwavering support.

At KRA Visionary, we recognise the importance of a whole-building approach to remediation. Our team is prepared to assist OMCs in comprehensively addressing relevant defects, ensuring the safety of all occupants within the building, providing guidance in executing remedial works and navigating ancillary processes, such as insurance, financial matters, and legal requirements.

We are dedicated to providing tailored assistance, ensuring a seamless application process for affected OMCs. Our commitment extends beyond mere administrative support; we stand ready to guide homeowners through each phase, from application to the execution of remedial works, ensuring a sense of assurance and support at every step of this journey.

We recognise the magnitude of this challenge and are prepared to apply our accumulated knowledge and resources to address these issues efficiently and effectively. The Interim Remediation Scheme reflects the culmination of extensive consultation with homeowners' representatives, emphasising the collaborative efforts undertaken to safeguard the interests of affected residents. The government's commitment to drafting legislation for a statutory scheme next year further underlines their dedication to ensuring homeowners' long-term safety and well-being.

Our team's experience gained from previous work of this nature positions us well to navigate the complexities of the Interim Remediation Scheme. We understand the intricacies involved in remedial works and are poised to leverage our expertise to facilitate a smooth and successful implementation of the scheme throughout 2024 and beyond.
